NMMC Wellness Center to Host Free Aging Program
TUPELO, Miss.*North Mississippi Medical Center’s Wellness Center will host a free community program, “Aging Gracefully and Safely in Your Own Home,” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1030 S. Madison.
Lisa Brown, an occupational therapist with the NMMC Rehabilitation Institute, will offer tips for preventing falls and making accommodations at home to reduce the risk of accidents.
The program is being offered during the National Rehabilitation Awareness Celebration, Sept. 15-21. In addition, the NMMC Rehabilitation Institute staff is celebrating their 25th anniversary with an open house from 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in their new facility. In February, the Rehabilitation Institute became the first unit to open in NMMC’s new West Bed Tower.
The staff is also promoting its Second Time Around program that donates new and used durable medical equipment to patients who may not have the funds to purchase needed items.
