The W to host Mississippi Municipal Statewide Youth Leadership Summit

COLUMBUS, Miss. – About 500 students from municipalities throughout the state will participate in the 7th Annual Mississippi Municipal Statewide Youth Leadership Summit in Columbus Friday, Feb. 28-Saturday, March 1.
The Youth Leadership Summit is sponsored by the Mississippi Municipal League and will be held on the campus of Mississippi University for Women. The summit will include breakout sessions, speakers, networking and more.
City officials and youth leaders will come together to share experiences of their programs and the impact made on the community. The summit also establishes a forum where youth can interact and discuss issues and concerns that are important to them.
The program is geared toward ninth through 12th graders who want to get involved in public service and give back to their community.
This year’s Summit will focus on the Helping Hands agency. Youth councils have been asked to donate canned goods, which will be presented to the organization during the closing session.

Opening General Session (Keynote Address), WLBT news anchor Maggie Wade, Whitfield Hall, Rent Auditorium, 9-10 a.m.
Breakout Sessions Block I, Hogarth Student Center, 10:10-11:10 a.m.
Breakout Sessions Block II, Hogarth Student Center, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Breakout Sessions Block III (Closing Session), Whitfield Hall, Rent Auditorium, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
