Local Food & Community Livability Workshop on April 15th-16th
Date(s) - 04/15/2014-04/16/2014
First Presbyterian Church - Aberdeen
Aberdeen Main Street is hosting a 1 ½ day community workshop on the topic of local foods and community livability. We have received a grant of technical assistance from the Appalachian Regional Commission, the US EPA, and USDA. A team of these agency partners and their consultants will be with us in Aberdeen to conduct this workshop this April. We need your expertise to better evaluate and plan for a number of community revitalization efforts, such as a community food and nutrition center and cannery, farmers market, and/or community gardens. Please join us to learn more and to share your own knowledge.
Specifically, we would like you to attend a workshop at the First Presbyterian Church on the evening of Tuesday, April 15th and during the full day on Wednesday, April 16th. Dinner will be provided the evening of the 15th. The workshop will bring together many key stakeholders from both the City and the region to develop an action plan around a number of community revitalization efforts. If you are receiving this invitation it is because someone on the local workshop planning committee (see below) provided your name and email to us. Please let us know if you can attend by calling 369-4864 or emailing me at email@example.com
The workshop will include presentations on community livability and food systems planning by the visiting consultant team, and shall also include a number of small group working sessions focused on visioning, values, goals and specific actions for implementation. The result of the 1 ½ days of work (three half day sessions) will be to lay out a clear vision and an action plan for moving forward.
