Video: Exchange Club A.C.E. Awards

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Some Lowndes County students are recognized for their hard work and overcoming obstacles.

The Columbus Exchange Club handed out the Accepting the Challenge of Excellence Awards at a luncheon on Thursday afternoon.

Private and public school counselors recommend a student who is beating the odds and overcoming some type of hardship.

The student then applies for the honor.

Caledonia High School’s Will Ayers won the overall ACE award.

He has cancer and continues to encourage others to accomplish their goals.

“I hope my story inspires others by just letting them know what you go through, that you just don’t have to give up. That you can get through anything, accomplish your dream no matter the obstacles in front of you,” said Ayers.

Ayers will now represent the district in a regional competition.
