HAMILTON, MISS. (WCBI) A trade for a trade is how a church in Hamilton gets to build a new place of worship. Dirt being tossed out of the ground marked the groundbreaking ceremony for where the new building will be built.

Abundant Life Fellowship Church is building a new sanctuary across the street from the current one.
The new building will be debt-free thanks to a program that other Pentecostal churches are apart of. Abundant Life Fellowship Pastor, Joseph Kennedy explains the program.

“Promise Project is where our mother church, Aberdeen First Pentecostal Church, us here at a Abundant Life Fellowship, and the Pentecostals of Okolona, kind of came together in a Promise Project and we raised, I believe it was 720,000 dollars over a three year span.”

The land that the church will be built on won’t cost them a dime since their current plot is owned by the same person says the Pastor.

“We actually are trading that land, three quarters an acre a land for a little over 3 acres of land, so it’s kind of like God has moved on our behalf and shined upon us and gave us this beautiful ground.”

Building a new church has been a years long dream for Abundant Life Fellowship. Bishop Ricky Bowen remembers the time when the current church building was bought for worship and expresses how the new building is an even bigger blessing, says Aberdeen First Pentecostal Church Bishop, Ricky Bowen.

“It was an old grocery store and that winter day when I came and laid my hand on that door and prayed and asked God to give us that building, you know, I felt like man, this is a big step and now I look back on it and you know each step gets larger.”

The new 300 seat fellowship will take a year or more to build. It will hold the growing members and will increase Sunday services abilities. Zachary Bowen is looking forward to the new building.

“It will add more fullness to the music and more fullness to the worship service and the praise service.”

There will also be a new parking lot and Sunday school rooms.
