Labrador Remains Number One

The American Kennel Club says the Labrador Retriever is still the nation’s most popular dog.

The lab remains top dog now for 22 years straight.

The lab’s attributes ranging from family-friendly, to therapy dog, to search and rescue are what make the dog a number one choice.

The German Shepard came in as the number 2 dog followed by the Golden Retriever, the Beagle, the Bulldog, Yorkshire Terrier, Boxer, Poodle, Rottweiler, and the Dachshund.

Before the popularity of the Labrador Retriever  German Shepards were number one due to the popularity of the 1920’s silver screen hero Rin Tin Tin.
