STARKVILLE MISS. (WCBI) Men in Starkville got to learn how to become over-comers Saturday.

It was all part of the 5th annual Men’s Conference at Meadowview Baptist Church in Starkville.
The conference lasted two days and had breakout speakers, including Dr. Robert Jeffress who has been on national News many times.

“It’s a theme of encouragement. Over-comer, and God is calling all of his people to be over-comers, not to give up, not to go bury themselves in a bunker somewhere waiting the end.”

Dr. Robert Jeffress says, the darker the background, the brighter the light which means even though people may be concerned with the direction our country is heading in, it’s the best time for Christians to stand up and overcome the darkness.

“Today’s message was a challenge for Americans and all Christians to be the salt and light that Jesus commanded us to be.”

Even though our nation is seeing troubling times, Dr. Jim Futral says there is hope.

“And the hope is Christ Jesus.”

Meadowview Pastor, Jason Middleton says sermons should send a message and that is always his goal.

“Challenge for men to be the men of God in the time in which we live.”

Encouraging words bounce off the walls as speakers remind the men of one thing.

“We are over-comers. We’re not over-comed, we’re just over-comers in Christ.”

Men from all over the state came for the conference, where they worshiped and took a stand to be over-comer’s.
