Langley died 10 years ago today while making a traffic stop on campus.

During the stop, the driver tried to drive off dragging Langley along and causing fatal injuries.

Those who worked with Langley say to this day they remember him as an officer who tried to learn every part of law enforcement from working with canines to being on the motorcycle patrols.

They say Langley not only wore the badge but lived the meaning of service behind it.

The driver of the vehicle that killed Langley, who was an Ole Miss student, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years. The tragedy shocked and saddened the UM community and prompted changes aimed to create a safer campus environment.
