Video: Family Escapes Columbus House Fire

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A Columbus family escapes injury after their house caught fire this afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a home at 1204 sixth street north just before 6:00PM this evening. Witnesses say by the time first responders arrived flames were shooting from the front windows of the brick home. The family went next door to call for help. It only took firefighters about twenty minutes to get the blaze under control. While an official cause has not been determined, it was likely an electrical fire.

The house does not appear to be a total loss. However: It did sustain heavy smoke and water damage.
