MEMA Issues Storm Damage Reports

PEARL, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received initial reports of storm damage from several counties from severe weather that is moving through the state.

Storms will continue through the night for the eastern and southern parts of Mississippi so it is important for citizens to remain weather aware.

No injuries have been reported to MEMA.

The counties reporting damages are as follows:

 

Kemper: Homes and East Mississippi Community College damaged near Scooba.

Lauderdale: Homes and West Lauderdale High School damaged, power outages, trees down in the Collinsville area. Schools will be closed Wednesday.

Neshoba: Flash flooding in and around Philadelphia.

Newton: Homes and agricultural buildings damaged.

Noxubee: Reed Elementary School damaged and power outages in the Shuqualak area.

Damage assessments are ongoing. Damage report updates will be released as they become available.

Residents should continue monitoring their local media, social media or other technology for current weather conditions.
