LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The scars left by the April 28th tornadoes in Louisville finally begin to heal.

The city of Louisville is having a “Clean Your Block Party” in remembrance of the tornado that destroyed more than 200 homes and businesses in 2014.

This year the city partnered with three construction companies to dig up old house foundations and clear landscape for private property.

Louisville’s Mayor Will Hill says there is still a lot of work to do.

Hill says, “This year we have taken it to a whole new level here. It just happens to be the two year anniversary of our disaster here in the community. So much has been done so much has been done in the efforts of recovery and rebuilding and repairing, but through out our community there’s still the scares of the tornado and what we want to do is try to provide a community-wide effort to try to help with that.”

If you would like your private property to participate in the cleanup, contact the chamber of commerce.

Donations and volunteers are needed.
