ITAWAMBA COUNY, Miss. (WCBI) – Former Mantachie High School Band Director Josh Robinson was arrested Friday, according to Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson. He’s facing one count each of sexual assault and enticement.

Dickinson said text messages from Robinson to a former student were in violation of school policies. On Monday afternoon, Itawamba County School Superintendent Michael Nanney released a brief statement, saying Robinson had been terminated. The statement also said the safety of students was the district’s first priority.

Dickinson says the investigation continues, and involves multiple students.

“Hopefully, in the next couple of days, we will have enough to know what direction we are going to go with this, but it is an active investigation,” he said Wednesday.

Dickinson says his office is working with the District Attorney. Also, we know that parents and students met with the sheriff Wednesday afternoon, and at least one parent has hired an attorney, for possible legal action.

Robinson was the band director at Mantachie High School for more than two years.
