Former Lee County School Official Pleads Guilty

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The former business manager for Lee County schools will spend one year on house arrest after pleading guilty to embezzlement charges.

50 year old Randy Thweatt pleaded guilty to two counts of embezzlement. He was also ordered to pay almost $13,000 in restitution to the Lee County School District and the state for its cost relating to the investigation.

Thweatt was arrested in April at the Lee County School District office. He was charged with taking a 2006 Ford Ranger pick up truck and a district air conditioning unit which he installed in a Starkville mobile home he owns.

Thweatt could have received up to 50 years in prison. He has no prior criminal record.
