Homeowner Holds Suspected Burglar for Police

TUPELO, Miss.

Resident captures burglary suspect in the act.

On March 24, at approximately 01:45 am, Tupelo Police were dispatched for a Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling on Deer Run Road. Responding officers detained the suspect Khalil Hobson as he ran from the residence.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that two residents of the home were awakened by their dogs and discovered Hobson in the residence. Hobson was held at gunpoint by a resident until officers arrived, at which point Hobson attempted to flee on foot and was captured by officers.

A person matching Hobson’s description had been reported acting suspiciously in the Big Oaks area approximately an hour prior to the Burglary on Deer Run Road.

Tupelo Detectives continue to investigate this incident. Bond was set today on Hobson at $75,000 by Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins. Anyone with information about this or other crimes is encouraged to call Tupelo Police at 662-841-6491 or Crime Stoppers of NE Mississippi at 1-800-773-TIPS.
