STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Cyber crime, health care reform, and the state’s new concealed carry law are all issues that have kept the state attorney general’s office busy.

But members of the Starkville Rotary Club today also wanted to know about Attorney General Jim Hood’s plans to open an office in Houston and operate part time from there.

Hood says he wants to be closer to his elderly parents and to let his children experience living outside of Jackson. But he also says technology breaks donw the distance barriers.

“I’ll have an office in Houston, I’ll be in Jackson two or three days a week and I found in this modern era of communications, you can do so much more by phone, text, fax or email than you could even five years ago,” Hood said.

Hood grew up in Chickasaw County and emphasized the office move is not part of a plan to run for governor in three years.

If he’s planning a run against Gov. Bryant, he’s in for a sad awakening. Save his money and buy a new toy.

Gov. Bryant is doing a fine job and will be re-elected with little or no problems.
