Ingomar’s Wright Becomes First Female Archer At Blue Mountain College

INGOMAR, Miss. (BMC) – Ingomar High School’s Katie Wright became Blue Mountain College’s first female archer recently.

Wright, one of the top 50 archers in the state, shot a career high of 275 during her high school tenure.

She comes to Blue Mountain as a member of the National BETA Club and Fredonia Baptist Church.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to compete at the highest level and also focus on my education,” Wright said. “When I stepped on campus, I knew this was a place God wanted me to be. Blue Mountain College is truly a special institution and I’m proud to be a Topper.”

Ingomar archery coach Melissa Reed said, “We couldn’t be more proud for Katie. BMC is a Christian institution and a great place for elementary education majors. She is an exceptional student, athlete and young lady. We wish her all the best in her college career. She has left a lasting legacy here at Ingomar.”

Blue Mountain head coach Clint Gannon said he believes Wright will be a key building block of the new archery program.

“We are thrilled at the signing of our first female archer. Katie was one of the top 50 archers in Mississippi last year and we expect her to perform even better for her senior season at Ingomar. She comes from a strong Christian family and brings those core values to our team. We know she will excel academically, spiritually and athletically at Blue Mountain. Signing a student-athlete like Katie is how you build a championship program.”
