Mantachie, Miss. (WCBI)- Students from two rival schools, one in Mantachie the other in Mooreville come together to make a special little girl’s dream come true.
Reminiscent of a huge music concert, not just two rival schools, representatives from the entire community packed Mustang Gym. They are celebrating the stamina of a little girl with a lot of courage.
“We are a big part of it and we raised over five thousand dollars to grant this little girl’s wish and its really been a blessing in my life,” said Melyndie McCrary, Mantachie High.
“We’re just overwhelmed by the generosity. Janie is a special girl to us and special to many people in the community,” said Craig Bertelsen, Father.
For excited Janie Bertelsen, challenged by a life threatening illness, the Make A Wish Foundation is making her dream come true. She and her family gets to fly to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida.
Even Disney’s larger than life Mickey Mouse joined in the festivities. As a Justin Beiber impersonator hit the stage, Janie who has been wishing and hoping for two months, realizes her idol is in the building.
“We don’t really know where Justin Bieber came into the picture, but it seems like he has been there since the beginning and he goes where ever we go. She has about 12 posters in her bedroom on the wall. Calendars and wears a Justin Bieber t-shirt about three or four times a week to school,” said Bertelsen.
As the festivities came to an end, the students who helped make Janie’s day a success also have a wish.
“To make a difference in the world is my wish,” said McCrary.
Janie’s entire family gets to join her in Florida for that dream vacation. Janie was nominated for Make A Wish by her teacher and a family pediatrician.
