JCP Closing In Columbus Delayed

COLUMBUS (WCBI) – Golden Triangle residents will have a few extra weeks to shop the JC Penney store in Columbus.

The retailer says it is pushing back the closing date of 138 stores until July 31st instead of the mid- June closing previously announced. Stronger than expected sales in the targeted locations is fueling the move to keep the stores open through the spring and summer fashion season. A company spokesman says a surge in sales at locations set to close is not uncommon. Liquidation sales at the 138 stores nationwide are now set to begin May 22nd.
