WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) -A mourning community remembers a beloved little league coach from West Point.

Thursday night over a hundred family and friends of 39 year old Lushunn Bennett came out to Zuber Park in West Point for his candlelight vigil.

The vigil started at 5 pm and ministers led a prayer for the family. Bennett was traveling west on east Tibbe road around one when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and left the road way.

One of his friends say that Bennett and his influence on the community will not soon be forgotten.

“Active community member, an overall wonderful person, great father, excellent husband, no one could ask for more. He was great with the kids, they all looked up to him and everyone knew coach Shunn and it coach Shunn said something it was good as gold,” said old friend Sherell Drake.
He was remembered most for his effort to teach area players to love both sports and education. Funeral arrangements are still being made.
