TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Recognition for Tupelo’s growing Healthy City effort continue to roll in.

Lawhon Elementary School physical education teacher Terry Clayton was named one of the state’s two Project Fit All-Star teachers. Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsors the award for teachers for innovative physical education teaching and programs.

“You only have one body and that’s all you get for the rest of your life so for us to start at an early age teaching healthy habits and teaching how important fitness is means everything,” Cl;ayton said of her approach to teaching.

Clayton’s honor comes with a $1,000 check for the school.
