TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo kicks off its annual citywide reading program.

The 2012 Tupelo Reads kicked off with a student art exhibit at the GumTree Museum Tuesday (9/25) night. This year’s book is “Gilead” by Marilynne Robinson. 30 students submitted art inspired by the 2005 Pulitzer Prize winning novel.  Four of them received cash prizes for their work. The art exhibition was the first of many events scheduled for the annual citywide literary celebration.  The next event is a book review Wednesday (9/26) at the Lee County Library.
