Video: 2016 Elvis Festival Poster Unveiled

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The poster for the 2016 Tupelo Elvis Festival has been unveiled.

The painting, by Tupelo artist Richard Tucker, features an image of Elvis from his early years of stardom.

The poster which will be featured in all ads and publicity for the 18th annual festival honoring the city’s most famous hometown son.

“The challenge really is you have to capture the essence of who he is and that really lies with the details of the features, and you have to really get that right in order to really portray Elvis correctly and that’s the challenge, because if you don’t get that right, it’s not Elvis because he’s so distinctive in the way he looks,” Tucker said.

The 2016 Tupelo Elvis Festival takes place June 2 through 5.
