TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Silver Airways will be Tupelo’s lone commercial airline for at least three more weeks.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has ordered the airline to continue flights in and out of Tupelo Regional Airport through Sept. 5.

Silver announced back in April it planned to end service in Tupelo within 90 days.

The order to keep flying comes while the USDOT decides if it will accept Seaport Airlines as the new carrier in Tupelo. Seaport Airlines is the air service Tupelo wants to take over commercial service in Tupelo.

Seaport would provide flights to Memphis and Nashville.
