STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-More than a 100 4-H members gathered on Mississippi State campus on Saturday for the 2013 Robotics Club.

Participants from all over the state came together for Robotics kickoff to learn what they are going to be doing for the next five months in their Robotic clubs. This year’s activities focussed on a space theme. Adults and kids got hands on experience building and creating robots while using engineering skills, mathematics and programming. One member says building robots is a tool they use to teach kids more important skills.

“Because building is a ton of fun and that’s what all the youth love, but what we want to do is really want to focus on the science. We bring in science activities that also correspond with the robotic build,” says Mariah Smith.

The Robotics conference went until 2:00p.m.
