9 Vie for Miss MSU Title

STARKVILLE, Miss.–Four sophomores, three freshmen and two seniors from throughout Mississippi, as well as West Tennessee, are competing for the title of Miss Mississippi State University 2012.

Taking place Thursday [Oct. 25], the pageant gets under way at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. General admission is $10; $5 for enrolled students with identification.

The winner will represent MSU next summer in the Miss Mississippi Pageant in Vicksburg, where the winner there will advance to the Miss America Pageant.

The contestants include (by hometown):

AMORY–Sophomore Kaylin R. Cowley, a chemical engineering major and the daughter of Connie and Melissa Cowley. She is a 2011 Amory High School graduate.

BILOXI–Freshman Michaela C. Moore, a communication and music double-major. The daughter of Don and Twyla Moore, she is a 2012 Biloxi High School graduate.

BROOKHAVEN–Sophomore Laura Lee Lewis, an elementary education major and the daughter of Mark and Lorin Lewis. She is a 2011 Brookhaven High School graduate.

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn.–Sophomore Susannah Billingsley, a communication/broadcasting major and the daughter of Bill and Cindy Billingsley. She is a 2011 Evangelical Christian School graduate.

CONEHATTA–Senior Lindsey C. Bishop, a human development and family studies major and the daughter of Matt and Jill Bishop. She is a graduate of Sebastopol Attendance Center and East Central Mississippi Community College.

FRENCH CAMP–Sophomore Jordan Box, a communication/broadcasting and public relations major and the daughter of Keith and Jennifer Box. She is a French Camp Academy graduate.

GORE SPRINGS–Freshman Heather M. Haynes, a biochemistry/pre-dental major and the daughter of Stacy and Elton Breland, and Steve Haynes. She is a 2012 Kirk Academy graduate.

NORTH CARROLLTON–Senior Aasha M. Brister, a communication/theater graduate and the daughter of Josie Jackson.  She is a graduate of J.Z. George High School and Holmes Community College.

STARKVILLE–Freshman Jasmine S. Murray, a communication major and the daughter of Lisa Murray and Samuel Murray. She is a 2010 Mississippi School of the Arts graduate.
