HAMILTON, Miss. (WCBI) — A Monroe County man is dead after a Thursday night fight. It happened just after 8 p.m. at 40014 Trimble Road, near Hamilton.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says George Holliday’s young daughter was at Ollie Diggs’ home. Someone told Holliday that Diggs hit the girl with a belt buckle.

Holliday went to confront the man and hit him with his fist after an argument, according to Cantrell.

Coroner Alan Gurley says Diggs, 52, died at the scene.

Holliday told investigators he thought he just knocked Diggs out.

Holliday, 48, is in jail and charged with manslaughter. Bond has not been set.

Gurley says an autopsy revealed Diggs died from a heart attack. The case is still being investigated as a homicide because Diggs and Holliday were arguing when the Monore County man died.
