Aberdeen Updating City Employee Handbook

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — A lot has changed in seven years, or at least Aberdeen city leaders think so.

Changes in the widespread use of social media has prompted Aberdeen City Clerk Jackie Benson to start updating the city’s employee handbook.

Benson is using policies from Southaven and Brandon as a guide.

The new updated rules will cover everything from using social media and the Internet during work and outside of work and possible punishments for violations. It also will cover changes in city uniforms and several other areas impacting city workers.

The city’s handbook was last updated in 2007. Benson says she hopes to have a revised handbook ready for department heads and aldermen to review early next month.
