After Success in Columbus, Teen Hopes to Bring Veteran Film to Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Tupelo teen recently had a showcase for the documentary Project 22 shown in Columbus, now she needs your help to get it shown in Tupelo.

18 year old Ashton Swearingen is all for helping the veterans who served our country.

That’s why she’s trying to bring the documentary Project 22 to the Cinemark in Tupelo.

But first, In order for the film to be shown, Swearingen must sell 54 tickets within the next 15 days.

She has an uncle who served in IRAQ and returned homes with some of the same problems depicted in the film.

She says raising awareness is a key way to help provide a message of hope for these vets that suffer from PTSD and may think about suicide.

“It’s a good learning experience. After I showed it in Columbus almost everyone came up to me how great of a film it was and what they walked away with, and more than just that, it’s to raise awareness,” says Swearingen.

Tickets can be purchased online for 11 dollars.

The deadline to purchase a ticket is November 9th.

If enough tickets are sold, the film will air on November 16th.
