AG Jim Hood Weighs In On Stokes Statement

JACKSON, MS (WCBI). Attorney General Jim Hood is now speaking out about Jackson City Council member Kenneth Stokes controversial statement that in some cases law officers should be attacked with bottles and bricks .  Hood Saturday released a link to the following statement on his Twitter account .

Hoods statement comes after Governor Phil Bryant said he would ask the AG Office to determine if Stokes statement could be interpreted as a criminal threat against law officers.  The Jackson council member made the comments New Years Eve after officers from neighboring Flowood and Pearl chased a misdemeanor suspect into a Jackson neighborhood . Stokes claims parents had to pull children out of the street to avoid being struck and that showering the officers with objects would send the signal pursuits from outside agencies aren’t wanted in Jackson
