AL Lottery Bill Fails to Get Floor Vote

Montgomery, Ala. (AP)- A bill that would have established a lottery and allow casino gaming in Alabama is dead, at least for the regular session.

Although the bill made it out of committee, it failed to get a floor vote in the Senate before today’s deadline.

Republican Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh had proposed putting a state lottery and casinos at the state’s dog tracks to a vote.

Marsh believes there is still interest in the measure, and it may come up again if there is a special session for the general fund budget.
