Alcorn County Student Expelled For Gun

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – An elementary school student has been expelled for bringing a gun to school.

The Daily Corinthian reports (http://bit.ly/13kN2xw ) that the incident occurred Dec. 18 but information was just released Wednesday by Alcorn schools superintendent Gina Rogers Smith.

Smith says a student at Kossuth Elementary reported to the teacher that another student was carrying a gun. The teacher contacted the office and administrators removed the child and the child’s possessions from the classroom.

Smith says an unloaded .22 caliber pistol was found but there was no ammunition in the child’s possession. School officials notified the sheriff’s department and the superintendent’s office.
