ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Alcorn County’s tourism tax will fund an expansion of Crossroads Regional Park in Corinth.

Supervisors have approved up to $5.75 million in 20-year bonds to pay for five new soccer fields, new baseball and softball fields, a playground, tennis courts, restrooms, parking and concession stands.

The current debt on the park will be refinanced as part of the deal so no new taxes will be required. Revenues from the county’s tourism tax are up more than 2 percent over last year.

County supervisors will hold a public hearing on the plan at their Aug. 18 meeting.
