Alcorn Woman Sentenced for Aggravated Assault

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) — An Alcorn County Circuit Court jury deliberated about an hour this morning before convicted 46-year-old Amy Denise Towles guilty of aggravated assault.

Judge Thomas Gardner sentenced her to five years in prison; she faced as much as 30 years.

She was convicted of shooting William Clay Wells in the stomach with a .22-caliber rifle on June 17, 2012 during a dispute at her home on County Road 520.
