All Types of Blood Needed

TUPELO, Miss. — United Blood Services today is announcing an emergency need for all blood types. We are asking the community to respond as quickly as possible. Since the beginning of 2013, we have experienced blood shortages due to the elevated patient usage in our local hospitals. “An accident victim, a trauma patient, a mother giving birth- all of these are real life situations taking place in our community that require the need for lifesaving blood. A family somewhere is hoping that you will put yourself in their shoes and give blood for their loved one,” said Rhonda Weaver, Donor Recruitment Supervisor for United Blood Services “There is no substitute for blood. Only healthy human beings will do.”

We are grateful for the number of donors that presented in January to help in these critical times but unfortunately, with the consistent elevated patient usage we have had minimal recovery. We find it necessary to inform blood donors and the public that NOW is the time to donate blood. Here’s how you can help:

· Donate blood at United Blood Services, 4326 Eason Blvd, Tupelo
