COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Incumbent Forrest Allgood is looking to the future, after losing the District 16 District Attorney race.

He tells WCBI he doesn’t know what’s next, but he’s “not ready to go home and sit down.”

Allgood says serving as the DA has been the best job he’s ever had.

“And say what they will, I did the very best I could, and tried the hardest, and I hope that I didn’t let any of my victims down,” Allgood said. “That was what I was striving for when I first ran for the job, and that’s what I’ll strive for up to my last day on the job.”

Allgood says he doesn’t know if he’ll open up his own private practice, but he doesn’t plan to run for office again.
