‘Americana Music Triangle’ Has Northeast Mississippi Ties

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The world’s number one music destination kicked off with an event at the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum.

The “Americana Music Triangle” is a preservation project along a 15 hundred mile stretch of highway that produced nine unique American genres of music such as rock and roll, blues, country and southern gospel.

The project is the result of more than three years of work by a multi state team of historians, musicians, tourism professionals and digital media experts.

During kickoff ceremonies this afternoon, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said the state looks forward to promoting the Americana Music Triangle .

Though the rest of the week, celebrations will be held in cities such as Lafayette, Louisiana,  Helena Arkansas and Clarksdale Mississippi.
