Amnesty Program Offered for Unpaid Fines

IUKA, Miss. (WCBI) — Tishomingo County residents are getting another chance to pay off their old fines.

They can settle their accounts this month, and avoid additional contempt of court charges.

Sheriff John Daugherty says the amnesty program is part of an effort to clear a backlog of old fines and warrants.

It runs Tuesday through April 1, and only covers fines prior to March 1.

Daugherty says old arrest warrants for failing to pay or appear will be rescinded if folks pay outstanding fines, resume payments, or come up with a new payment plan.
