AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Amory Regional Museum is making the end of summer a little more fun for some children.

The Discovery Day Camp is being hosted at the museum and for three days. The little campers will be learning about arts and crafts, science technology and agriculture. On the last day of the camp, the Amory Lions Club will offer a free eye screening for campers.

This is the second year for the camp, and organizers are hoping the camp will go on for many more years because of the educational purpose it serves.

“It’s important, especially in Amory. We don’t necessarily have all of the outlets that some of the larger cities do and the museum really serves a great purpose in that.”, says camp volunteer and museum board member Penny Leech-Freed.

“Like, you get to learn stuff that you didn’t know and you get to play games and do all kinds of stuff,” said 8-year-old camper Connor Allen.

The camp is held from 9 a.m. to noon. The age range for the camp is grades 1-8.
