HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) — Houston High School seniors graduated Thursday night, but already plans are under way for the next Sundancer Solar Race Car Challenge.

A team of ten students from Houston High are expected to rebuild the stripped down car and drive the sun-powered vehicle to another championship win in mid-July. They are expected to compete with 25 other teams from 18 different states.

“And the big challenge this year, its a hybrid race. And this is the first time we’ve had that. Meaning that we’re going to run two days on the Texas Motor Speedway, and then leave and go across country there in Texas for two days on the cross country race,” said Sundancer Sponsor Keith Reese.

Since 2001 the Sundancer Solar Race Team has won 13 national championship titles.
