Appropriations Bill to Fund New Army Reserve Center

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- An appropriations bill for a new Army reserve center is on it’s way to the Senate.

If approved, an estimated $9.3 million will be provided to build the new Center in Starkville.

U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran says the funding is provided in the FY-2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affair Appropriations Bill, approved this week by the appropriations committee.

Cochran, who is Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, says the funding will be used to replace the aging Guy II and Will Jones U. S. Army Reserve Center.

He says the bill provides money to equip and house military personnel and increases funding for veterans’ benefits and programs.
