Arrest Made In Grenada Murder

GRENADA, Miss. (AP) – A Grenada man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his father.

Police Capt. George Douglas says 84-yesar-old Benny Brown Smith died from gunshot wounds at his home Monday night. An autopsy is being performed.

Douglas says 61-year-old Ernest Marcus Smith, identified as the man’s son, was arrested at the scene. Douglas says the younger Brown is being held on a charge of murder pending an initial court appearance. It is unclear if he has an attorney.

Police say the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
