“Asthma Super Saturday” At Healthworks!

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Asthma affects many young people throughout our viewing area but it doesn’t have to impact their quality of life.

That was the message at “Asthma Super Saturday” at Tupelo’s Healthworks.  The annual event brings together children suffering with asthma and lets them have a time of physical activity, sessions from experts on how to live with asthma and other vital information.

Participants have been to an annual summer camp called “Camp Breathe Easy” and the “Asthma Super Saturday” is an opportunity to update children and parents about advances and changes in medicine and treatment.

“A lot of them do know the drill but it’s amazing how important it is to re-educate, that’s the one thing we learn from the American Lung Association, that repetitive information really helps to get it to stick,” said respiratory therapist, Beth Bowers.

“Camp Breathe Easy” is held June 2nd through the 5th at Tishomingo State Park.
