Sheriff Mike Arledge releases the following information:

Earlier in this week Lowndes County Sheriffs Department received an anonymous tip of Animal Neglect at the Back 40 Petting Farm off of Hwy 12 East in Lowndes County. Lowndes County Animal Control and Lowndes County Investigation Division started an investigation into the matter. A Lowndes County Justice Court Judge issued a search warrant for the property. On August 28, 2012 Lowndes county sheriffs officers executed the search warrant at the Back 40 Farm on Hwy 12. Upon entrance to the property officers located several animals that appeared to be neglected. 21 animals were seized and transported to an Golden Triangle Horse Rescue. Horses, dogs, rabbits, donkeys and a bull were among the animals that were seized. Ms. Lisa Perkins of 170 Lisa Perkins Drive is facing multiple charges of Animal Neglect in relation to this case. This case is still under Investigation.
