Band Of Brothers Reunion

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-It’s been over 2 decades since a group of Desert Storm soldiers have reunited.
the second 114th Battalion gathered together today in Starkville to commemorate their 25th anniversary.

Troops from the 2nd 114th Battalion had a chance to come together on Saturday  for the first time since they were preparing for war 25 years ago.
“Good friends, good times. It’s like a high school reunion, people you grew up with, you haven’t seen them in years,” Colonel Jim Sisson said.
This was the first time many of the troops have seen each other since Operation Desert storm back in 1991, so this reunion provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to catch up on old times.

“It’s more stories about how we’re doing, and what we’re doing now, and things that have happened since then,” Battalion Commander during Operation Desert Storm Mike Triplett said.

And it provided some members, and opportunity to look back on their experience 25 years ago.

“What we went through was tough, it’s tough for anybody to have to be uprooted from their work, and their family, and their home on a relatively short notice. And in this case, when it’s an actual shooting war, you don’t know if you’re gonna come back home or not, so it was tough,” Commander Triplett said.

Mike Triplette was the Commander of the Battalion during Operation Desert Storm, and he said for him, that experience changed everyone’s lives forever.

“Warfare is hard, there’s no doubt about it. The routine things you run into daily, it’s just simply not as hard anymore,” he said.

Even though it may have been 25 years since these troops were all together at once, everyone picked up right where they left off.

The memories These Band of Brothers created 25 years ago will never be forgotten.

“There is nothing like adversity to band people together. Once you do that, you are bonded to these people for the rest of your life, there’s no other feeling like that, and these guys are all like that, this is 25 years later and these guys aer still cloase as they were back then,” Commander Triplett said.
