Baptist Golden Triangle Earns ‘Top Performer’ Listing

COLUMBUS, Miss. (Press Release) — Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle has been named a TopPerformer on Key Quality Measures® by the Joint Commission, one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States earning the 2013 Top Performer distinction.

The Joint Commission, the organization which accredits hospitals, recognized the hospitals for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.

Baptist Golden Triangle was recognized for top performance in four areas: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. This is the third year that Baptist Golden Triangle has been recognized as a Top Performer. The hospital was recognized in 2012 and 2013 for its performance on accountability measure data for the same four areas. It is one of only 712 hospitals to achieve the Top Performer distinction for the past two consecutive years.

We are very proud of this recognition,” said Paul Cade, administrator and CEO of Baptist Golden Triangle. “Our colleagues, clinicians and physicians, using best practices to treat our patients is the reason we were named a top performer again for the third straight year.”

The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions.

“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts of Baptist Golden Triangle for their excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions,” said Mark R. Chassin, M.D., president and chief executive officer of The Joint Commission.

“We understand that what matters most to patients at Baptist Golden Triangle is the quality and safety of the care they receive. That is why we have made it a top priority to improve positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes,” Cade added.

Baptist North Mississippi in Oxford and Baptist Booneville were also designated as Top Performer hospitals.

With 315 beds, Baptist Golden Triangle is the largest regional hospital affiliated with the Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care system. With physicians and surgeons representing almost every medical specialty practicing at the hospital and more than 1,000 health care employees, Baptist Golden Triangle offers a wide range of comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages.

In addition to the Baptist Cancer Center-Golden Triangle, the hospital offers a variety of services to the community, including Baptist Behavioral Health Care for those with behavioral and mental health problems; an emergency room with 24-hour ambulance service; and an extensive rehabilitation department, including cardiac rehab and educational programs and health screenings, many at no cost to the public.
