Barnes Crossing Business District Holds Inaugural Meeting

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Business owners and managers in the area of Tupelo’s Barnes Crossing Mall have formed an organization to promote networking, coordinate special events and have a bigger voice in matters of city government.

This morning, the inaugural meeting of the Barnes Crossing Business District was held at The Mall at Barnes Crossing.

Organizers say they have been thinking of starting a business district for some time and the Convention and Visitors Bureau has also asked area entrepreneurs to form some sort of group.

“Our district, we feel, probably should have been formed years ago but we were so busy working in our business and putting ourselves on the map that we skipped a step so today we’re getting together to do some special events, to network,” Barnes Crossing Mall Manager Jeff Snyder said.

“The Barnes Crossing area draws 150 miles from every direction because we have super stores here that you don’t see in other hub towns around,” businessman Mitchell Scruggs said.

Next year marks the 25th anniversary for The Mall at Barnes Crossing.
