Bodock Festival in Pontotoc

PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — Pontotoc is bustling with activity this weekend.

The Pontotoc courthouse is adorned with a massive American flag as the 22nd annual Bodock festival is in full swing.
There are slew of activities including live entertainment which will go on until about 10 PM. Ellen Russell is director of the Pontotoc Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Association. She says the event brings between six and eight thousand people downtown for the two day event.

“Basically it’s a celebration for Pontotoc Count,” she says. “Family reunions as such that everybody likes to come to town. We have class reunions that are going on throughout town. And there’s a purpose to come and enjoy and visit.”

And in case you’re wondering this is a Bodock three which is somewhat unique to the Pontotoc area. It has a really hard wood and produces yellowish fruit that it is not edible.
