Video: Body Found In Monroe County

Monroe County, Miss. (WCBI) — After receiving a call about a dead body today, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department confirm the man to be Jhonny Pace of Sulligent, Alabama.

Deputies responded to a call around 1 P.M. today after a couple of people riding 4-wheelers said they found a body off the side of Splunge Road.

After a quick investigation, deputies did determine that it was indeed a body.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says he does not believe it to be due to foul play.

Cantrell also says they received calls from neighbors earlier this week about a man walking up and down the street, acting unusually.

“We sent deputies up here practically all day Monday and Tuesday but we never could find anybody. The people up here says that when we would come or a car would come he would run back into the woods.”

Cantrell also says he believes the body has been there for 3 to 4 days and the cause of death is still unknown.

The body is being sent to the crime lab in Jackson.
