Columbus, Mississippi (WCBI) – The man accused of opening fire at a Columbus Fairgrounds graduation party made his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Kale Scott, 19, is charged with murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000.

Investigators believe Scott pulled out a gun and started shooting after an argument at last week’s party.

Devin Lamar Montgomery, 21, was hit in the back and later died. Another victim was hit in the leg.

Police say more charges are possible.

“It’s still an open case. We’re still looking at everything and putting everything together. So as we get to it, we will handle each and every situation that comes up,” said Columbus Police Investigator Kevin McCrary.

Thus far, Scott is the only person charged in the homicide investigation.
