Booneville Frosh is NEMCC’s ‘Most Beautiful’
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College freshman Lara Lynn Waddell of Booneville was crowned the college’s Most Beautiful at the annual Parade of Beauties held inside the Seth Pounds Auditorium on the Booneville campus, Tuesday, November 12.
Waddell bested 21 other contestants in the annual pageant to claim the title for the 2013-14 academic year.
Waddell was crowned by 2012-13 Most Beautiful Krystal Jackson of Booneville and given flowers by Northeast president Dr. Johnny L. Allen, Ed.D.
With the win, Waddell became the second freshman in the last three years to claim the annual beauty pageant crown.
As part of the pageant, contestants in the annual Parade of Beauties are judged on beauty, poise and elegance.
Before Waddell was crowned, the 22-contestant field was narrowed to a Top 10 before the Top 5 was announced.
Included in the Top 5 were Tatum Emmons of Booneville, Scarlett McCay of Booneville, Madalyn Patton of Booneville and Kayla Smith of Iuka.
Other winners on the night included Allie Downs of Booneville, who was chosen for the Scholastic Award, which went to a contestant that had a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale with at least 28 hours or the next highest grade point average, and pageant judges also selected a recipient for the most photogenic award which went to Emmons.
Northeast assistant director of bands Jason Beghtol served as emcee for the night.
Northeast Student Government Association president Katelin Wallace of Tishomingo was also on hand to assist with the pageant.
